Currency Redesign

In this project, we were asked to redesign three U.S. currency notes ($5, $10, and $20) around a new theme that moves beyond the traditional focus on past presidents.

I chose a Disney theme, drawing inspiration from three iconic films. At first, I considered other ideas, such as a floral theme featuring national flowers or even elements unique to the United States. However, I ultimately chose the Disney theme because I felt it would appeal to a broader audience, and it also resonated with me personally since I grew up with Disney movies. Each note features the heroine on the front and the antagonist on the back. I was especially drawn to the striking designs of the villains, so the character selection was largely influenced by choosing the ones with the most visually compelling antagonists. To make each note unique, I added elements from the actual movies in the background and created a border pattern tailored to each character: a Chinese pattern for Mulan, a sun for The Lion King, and fire for Hades.
