Money Redesign: Disney

In this project, we were asked to redesign three U.S. currency notes ($5, $10, and $20) around a new theme that moves beyond the traditional focus on past presidents.

I chose a Disney theme, drawing inspiration from three iconic films. At first, I considered other ideas, such as a floral theme featuring national flowers or even elements unique to the United States. However, I ultimately chose the Disney theme because I felt it would appeal to a broader audience and because it resonated with me personally, as I grew up with Disney movies. Each note features the heroine on the front and the antagonist on the back. I was especially drawn to the villains' striking designs, so the character selection was largely influenced by choosing those with the most visually compelling antagonists. To make each note unique, I added elements from the actual movies in the background and created a border pattern tailored to each character: a Chinese pattern for Mulan, a sun for The Lion King, and fire for Hades.
